Police have finally arrested the suspected armed robbers who robbed a branch of Zenith Bank at Wetheral road, Owerri in Imo state on Wednesday, February 23, 2017.
The CCTV had captured the suspected ring leader Justice Ogbonna, aka JJ, and his driver Okechukwu Onwuamaegbu alongside other gang members during the deadly operation on the said day.
Our sources gathered that the ring leader alongside one of his gang was arrested on Friday last week in Aba, Abia state during the activities marking his father’s burial. They are both helping the police with investigations at the Imo state police command in Owerri and will soon be charged to court.
It was recalled that the robbers had trailed a customer who came in to deposit a huge sum of money to the Zenith bank branch located along Wetheral Road, opposite Dan Anyiam Stadium, immediately opened fire at the entrance of the gate and successfully made away with the cash after engaging in an exchange of gun fire with the bank security agent who gunned down one of the robbers at the spot.
The attack which left a total of five people dead includes one of the robbers, three bank security agents and the customer who was trailed to the bank while seven others were injured.
The video which has gone viral on the internet and on every social media is generating applaud to the security agent for his bravery and to the entire Nigerian Police Force for their good work in tracking down the criminals.
